It's Ireland's most talked about podcast. The only podcast with live callers and live debates. It's Opinions Matter with Adrian and Katie.
00:12
You're welcome to this Opinions Matter podcast with Adrian and Jeremy, but actually Katie today, recorded live at our studio at the White Sands Hotel in Port Marnock in North County Dublin. If you're in the Port Marnock area, why not swing by the White Sands Hotel? The Oasis Bar and Grill below our studio here is well worth a visit. Pop in, say hello, have a bite to eat, have a pint, say hello to the staff. They're all lovely and the food is amazing. The Oasis Bar and Grill below our studio here at the White Sands Hotel.
00:45
So what do we want to talk about on this latest episode of the podcast? Well, we got a message on WhatsApp actually two days ago. We're only getting around to dealing with it now. And it's from one of our listeners called Gavin. I want you to have a listen to what Gavin WhatsAppped us the other day.
01:05
Lads, you need to talk about psychics. They are nothing but scam artists preying on vulnerable people who are gullible and naive. My girlfriend has spent an absolute fortune going to them, paying €50 to €70 a time to be told vague rubbish that could apply to anyone. They claim they can speak to the dead and predict the future and people just keep handing over money.
01:36
It absolutely does my head in. I honestly think this sort of thing should be stopped because it is taking advantage of people at their lowest. Am I the only one who thinks it's all complete and utter bullshit?
01:54
And his opening line...
01:57
is what I really want to discuss. That psychics are nothing but scam artists playing on vulnerable people who are gullible and naive. Now, for the last number of years, we've been warned left, right and centre, no matter where we go, no matter what we're doing, on our phone, in emails, we're being told to be wide to scams. Don't let scammers con you. Don't follow links to websites that are bogey.
02:27
Don't give over your bank details. All of this stuff has literally been drilled into us over the last number of years to make us not fall for a scam. And a lot of us are fairly wide now. We tend not to fall for scams. Well, at least I don't. I'm always amazed when I hear that somebody did follow a link and did hand over all their bank details. But most of us are fairly wide to scams. And I think it's great that we're all being educated in scams. We're all being taught what to watch out for because there is nothing worse than somebody taking money off you for nothing.
03:04
Literally robbing the money off you. Now, you might hand it over voluntarily. You see, I mean...
03:09
I'm in two minds about this whether you think it's bullshit or not like if somebody gets comfortable now I would have been very sceptical I did one earlier this year there were weird things there were things that maybe were said that nobody could have known and couldn't be interpretation okay let me ask you two questions okay firstly how much was it 70 70 euro okay And the only reason I did it was because a friend was doing it and she was like, will you come with me, please? I have never done one before. It would never interest me. The opportunity presented itself.
03:33
Okay, so you ended up going to see this psychic. You paid 70 quid.
03:37
Yeah.
03:37
And would this person have known anything about you beforehand? Because I used a fake name. You use a fake name. OK, so you went in and you're what, Jackie or whatever. Can you remember your face? No, no, no.
03:50
What was the fake name? I can't remember.
03:52
Well, we go with Jackie. So you rocked up and you said, oh, hi, I'm Jackie. How are you? And what did Jackie tell you or what did this woman tell Jackie?
04:01
Do you remember I came into you the next day telling you and I told you to get a grip of yourself if you remember correctly?
04:06
Yeah.
04:07
Well, first of all, the first thing, so when he was doing the intro, the first thing he said was he stopped me and he says, he started talking about France. Now, he was like, you're French. There's French in your blood somewhere. You're French. Now, how could you know that? It's so specific. My dad's French. He didn't have my name, by the way. So he couldn't have known that my surname was a French name.
04:25
Okay.
04:26
So first of all, there's that. Then second of all, he said to me about my daughter, he says, what is it with your daughter's hair? Now, my daughter has really, really, really curly, not ringlets, like curly, curly blonde hair. And every time we go anywhere, men and women are always like, can I rub a curl? Can I, your daughter's hair, your daughter, everywhere we go, people stop us to talk about her hair. And he said to me, what is it about your daughter's hair? And I said, what do you mean? He says, why do people always stop you to ask about it? Now, don't tell me that. That's not interpretation.
04:57
Okay, let me ask you then, what did you get out of it, if anything?
05:03
I got an hour away from my kids.
05:05
The reason I'm asking is I genuinely, and I've always believed this, and I've worked with many of them over the years, I genuinely believe that they are absolute scam artists. I believe that they are professionally trained
05:22
brilliant at convincing you that they know they know you inside out I would have been very sceptical and I probably am but I'm less sceptical because at the time okay so she mentioned your daughter's hair whooped you okay so at the time there was a dilemma I was having it was nothing to do with my marriage or anything like that I was having a dilemma and it was basically the psychic Lee Kelly medium by the way he's very very good if you fancy trying him out I found him good he was able to tell me about a dilemma I was in and how that dilemma was going to fare out And the dilemma was so specific.
05:55
It was so, so specific. Down to locations that it was just too specific to be interpretation. I never told you about this dilemma. It's not your business.
06:07
She's about to ask, tell us about this dilemma.
06:11
But he was able to tell me exactly down to... There was other stuff as well.
06:16
Could he be a listener or could he have seen our podcast to know something about you?
06:22
But how could he how could he have when he didn't have my name? That's specifically why I didn't give my name.
06:27
You've already said you've had people come up to you and say, oh, hi, you're Katie off the podcast.
06:31
So what? Like that's that doesn't mean anything. But that's why. OK, so that is why I changed my name just on the off chance that he would. You never know. Right. So there is no way on earth he could have known who I was before.
06:45
OK, so he told you he told you about this dilemma that you were having.
06:50
He also said to me, he goes, you have a sore belly. And I was like, what do you mean I have a sore belly? He says, I see surgery. He was able to tell me I was having surgery. Now, come on. Come on. Don't tell me that's not weird.
07:02
Okay, everybody.
07:04
Had surgery. No, not everybody has surgery. There's plenty of people listening.
07:07
Everybody, if you said you have something wrong with your tummy, everybody, oh, you had a bit of indigestion yesterday.
07:12
No, but he didn't say. He goes, you have a sore tummy. And he said, you've been in hospital. And at the time, I was in bits with it, and I ended up having surgery. And he said surgery.
07:21
There was just way too much stuff to be...
07:24
Okay, here's my take on this. I think they are absolute scam artists, but they're very professional scam artists, and they're scam artists with a heart, because they're not setting out to hurt your feelings. They're not setting out to... Oh, no, I wasn't going in there looking for good news.
07:37
I was like, I don't give a shit. Like, I don't read a particular one.
07:40
But my point is, I don't think they are scam artists in...
07:44
in a sinister way, but I still think they're scam artists. I believe it's all absolute bollocksology. And I've always believed that. And like I said, I have worked with psychics over the years. And I've told you before, back in the day on the FM 104 phone show, we used to have regular psychics on the show.
08:04
We had Louise Kings. Yeah, I remember her. Who's sadly since passed away.
08:09
We had other, Psychic Sid was another guy that was on our show for a number of years. Yeah. He was an English guy, ranting about you, I can see it, ranting about you, he used to say. But sitting opposite those people, I genuinely, and I mean no disrespect to somebody like Louise who's passed away, but I genuinely believe everything that was coming out of their gobs was absolute bullshit.
08:32
But it's like anything.
08:34
Curated bullshit.
08:35
Okay, but how could this person have known that much? Now, I do think there's the typical bullshit they throw in. You're going to meet someone, someone's come along, I see someone in your future.
08:43
Yeah, obviously everybody has somebody in their future.
08:45
Yeah, do you know what I mean? But the shit like that is just like, okay, that's the generic. But there was stuff that couldn't have been, that was so ungeneric. Is that a word? That it was just too specific.
08:57
Okay, so when you walked out of that room after whatever it was, a half an hour of him churning the shite at you, and some of which landed, and this is my belief, you see, some of it, was there anything he said that made absolutely zero sense to you? It was complete rubbish.
09:15
not really actually it was not really how was he able to tell me my grandfather in France's name and that's not it's not a name a typical John or Mary name it's a French name how was he able to tell me that name and I swear I swear on everything sitting here now he was able to tell me how is that possible I don't know I don't know maybe he knew all about you maybe he rang your dad
09:37
The point I'm trying to make is if there was any of the conversation that was absolute bullshit, you won't remember that.
09:45
You're only remembering. It's like when you look back at your childhood, your memories of summer as a child, the weather was always gorgeous. Yeah. Yeah. In reality, there was pissy rainy days, but we don't remember those days. You remember the good bits. You remember the good bits, and that's the point I'm trying to make. When it comes to meeting this guy, hearing what he had to say, you took away what you wanted to take away, and you've wiped out the bullshit.
10:08
There are definitely scam artists, definitely, but I think maybe it is fantastic interpretation, but...
10:13
Okay, but then I'll rephrase it. Do you believe that it is possible that somebody like this guy has some connection with the spirit world or is able to read your mind or is being prompted from God or whatever the fuck to know what's in your future?
10:31
Just to say, guys, in a second, we're actually going to be speaking to somebody who can do this.
10:34
Yeah, okay. What is this skill?
10:38
I don't know, but there were things... Oh, look, I would have been as sceptical as you. I would have said, oh, waste of money. These people are shitting you. They're playing games with your head, blah, blah, blah.
10:46
But it was just... And by the way, my own wife has gone to them, and I've never really gotten involved. I've never really said a word. I've told her I think it's all rubbish, but if she wants to do it, then, you know, knock yourself out. Off you go. Waste your money.
10:59
Robert says, Kate, you're forgetting all the queues.
11:03
Like, there were no queues. Like, what cues could I have given them? Like, what cue could I have sat there saying that my daughter has curly hair and people are always stopping to ask about her or to talk about her hair?
11:12
And did you confirm that, by the way?
11:14
No. I didn't want to give anything away, so I just sat there with my rest of bitch face.
11:19
So when he starts asking about your daughter's hair and people speaking about it, you were literally poker-faced.
11:25
I just was like, okay, okay. I didn't give anything away. There was one part where he said something, and I think my expression must have given it away because it was just so, so scary. I'm not going to get into it on air, but there was one thing he said that I think was obvious from my thing that he hit on something. And I would have been very sceptical before. Totally.
11:49
But again, I'm asking you, was there anything that he said that was just rubbish, made no sense at all?
11:56
Apparently there's a strong man coming for me.
11:59
Yeah, that's what he told me. He's like, there's a man in your future. And he was like, remember the world.
12:03
Obviously there's a man in your future.
12:04
Maybe I'll turn lesbian.
12:06
Did he say that?
12:07
No, no, I will in fact not be turning a lesbian. But he said to me, there's a strong man in your future. And he was very specific. He said, remember strength and be strong. He said, remember that because that's going to be highly, highly significant to the person you meet eventually, apparently.
12:23
Okay, so from that session with this particular guy, you took away what? What did you take away from it? Oh, my God, that guy was absolutely brilliant.
12:36
He was able to tell me everything. I kind of left thinking that, yeah, bits of that were weird. Bits of it were... Weird. Accurate. Like the thing about the person in your future and stuff like that.
12:46
That's so cliche. They're obviously going to say that. Do you know what I mean? But the...
12:52
Sorry, I was just going to... Can we get lined up there?
12:55
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
12:57
085-825-2626 is our WhatsApp number. But you think it's all crap? I think it's all absolute rubbish. And as I said, and I'm not being bad, I have worked with psychics in the past, Obviously, I was happy to have them on because they were good for radio ratings. They used to make the phone lines hop.
13:17
Why are you using people for ratings?
13:19
It's a disgraceful way to behave. That's what we do. If people wanted to ring them, they could ring them. And they did. And I accept that. By the way, the vast majority of people who ever rang any psychic I ever had on the radio for over 20 years, 90% of the people who ever rang were women. What does that say?
13:37
Oh, the women are fools?
13:38
Yeah.
13:39
Oh, thanks.
13:40
Or easily had, or easily convinced.
13:41
Let me say that line out there.
13:42
And I guarantee you, that guy that you're talking about, the majority of his clients are women, not men.
13:48
I think it's because women are more likely to be spiritual. I think it's more likely women are more likely to give a shit. Like, I don't want to know what's in my future.
13:56
Except as a muscly man.
13:58
A muscly man, yeah. Someone's strong. It's the word strong or strength. That's what I've been told.
14:03
Catherine, I'll be with you in just a second.
14:06

14:45
Catherine, you're on Opinions Matter. How are you, Catherine?
14:48
I'm good. I'm Catherine Woods, a psychic and spiritual healer.
14:53
Now, what I agree, I agree with your guy that wrote in there. 99% of people in my business are scams, unfortunately. I have extensively studied everything. I've studied counselling through dreams, chemistry, which is a science. I've studied dream analysis, the tarot, astrology, colour therapy, and on and on and on. Now, I don't ask people to come to me. However, my first question to my clients is, do you go to this often? If they say yes, I immediately know they need healing. So I say to them, let this be your last reading.
15:24
I don't ask any questions. I don't take names. I don't. I just book appointments. I believe I have the top rating in psychics in Dublin. I don't know. I'm not a computer-y person. But people come to me, they find me. I've done many, many shows over the years.
15:40
Radio stations around me to come on. Okay, so tell me Catherine, exactly what you will do for me if I rock up. Firstly, how much will you charge me?
15:50
I have different rates depending on whether you work or not.
15:52
Oh, okay. So I work. So how much will you charge me?
15:55
Whatever you can afford. 60 or 65 is my top rate. Okay.
15:58
Depending on... We'll say 60 euro. So what am I going to get for me 60 quid?
16:04
So I will just relax you. I don't ask any questions. I have a nice little room upstairs where I've been working happily for the last 30 years. I'm 40 years doing this work. And... According to one of your comments, I have paid tax my whole life just to clear that up. I'm one of the genuine ones. I would just ask you, how are you? Have you had this done before? That's all. As you're walking in, I'll pick up your aura. I know how to read auras. I can pick up sicknesses, illnesses, stresses, depressions, anxieties, addictions.
16:32
Myself and Adrian sitting here now, can you pick up on our auras? No, because I'm not an entertainer.
16:37
I do this on a one-to-one private basis.
16:39
You can't do it over the phone.
16:41
It has to be in person. No, no. Oh, no, no. Please, please, your listeners, never over the phone, never on the internet, never pay money to scammers. It has to be in person. Now, I do have clients all over the world But I would have met them here in Ireland and then they moved back to Brazil and I can do a WhatsApp video reading once I can see them. But I've already known them. No, you have to be able to see the person. It's a one on one appointment. I don't have a watch. I don't time it.
17:07
So psychics, they're not as common now as they may have been in the past.
17:13
Psychics on radio programs, for example, a load of rubbish.
17:16
Rubbish, yeah, absolutely. Now, I have done dreaming.
17:19
And sorry to go across you, Catherine. As somebody who would have been a person who had psychics on the radio for years on end, I agree that it is absolutely rubbish.
17:29
And I was sitting opposite these people and I could see... Yeah, it's an entertainment factor to boost your ratings. So, As I said, I'm not an entertainer. I'm a genuine psychic and healer. If you look up the Bible, you'll read up the call bearer healer. I use my gifts. I do a lot of charity work. I do an awful lot for dog and animal rescue. I don't know. I don't. If somebody is a drug addict and they come to me and they need healing, I'll say no problem. You can pay me when you owe me or you can pray for me.
17:55
Okay, so what will I get for my 60 euro?
17:57
What would you tell me? Okay, so I ask you to pick 17 cards.
18:03
which adds up to the number eight, which is the infinity symbol, because everybody needs to cut ties with something in their family tree. Everybody has cracks in the family tree. So what I would do is get you to relax and pick 17 cards. My room is nice and dark. I have music playing. Everyone gets very relaxed. And I just read the cards. I tell you what I see I ask you at any point if you want to butt in or you want to stop me or you don't understand something yeah I chat away and I tell them what I see and I try to hit on the main points people want to know about love romance health wealth you know financial prosperity prosperity in their work their study their training their family they want to know about their pets their granny in heaven I try to get as much as I can and then I say to miss this all are you happy with this And then 99.9% say yes.
18:47
And they might ask me one or two questions. If they tell me to continuously go for readings, I say, you must stop. You must stop this. Readings are maximum because they are vulnerable people. They are searching for something that the answer is in their own soul. And I would suggest a few sessions of healing. Again, even if you're a drug addict or an alcoholic, six sessions of healing, because six is the number of harmony. You're done. You're pretty good. Then they kind of... For harmony. I thought six was the number of Satan. Is it not six, six, six?
19:19
No, no. Six on its own is the number of harmony in numerology. Oh, I never knew that. Yes. So I say to them, have a few sessions of healing, however many you feel, but it will never be more than six. So I don't manipulate people. I don't go out in the street with a banner saying, come to me, come to me. I don't believe in the commercial market work. I don't believe in the online.
19:37
Let me ask you, Catherine, when I walk out the door, what will I have gotten from you? What will I have learned about myself?
19:44
Okay, well, my aim would be that you would see your problems, your repetitive patterns, habits, what is wrong with your life. Maybe you'll have peace in your soul.
19:55
Sorry to cut across you. I already know my problems in my life. Why do I need you to tell me?
20:02
then don't come stay home keep your money what I'm getting at is like what is the point in you telling me the problems that I already know I know but other people want to know everyone's different and some people need someone to talk to and someone to tell them it's going to be okay that you've had the worst shitty year of your life but next year looks better would you not just go for counselling then I have studied counselling, but I use the cards. It's called divinetry through the cards. So if you don't need me, don't come. That's what I say to people.
20:28
I mean, that man. Let me just stop you there. If you don't need me, then don't come. So what sort of person is going to need you? Is it somebody who is vulnerable, gullible and naive?
20:41
No, somebody who's interested genuinely in the future. I mean, I have an odd person, believe it or not, who comes to me just to want to know, is my life going to stay as good as it is at the moment? You know, I don't ask questions. Genuine psychics are some of the names you threw out there. I know them. I know of them. And I know one guy in town and his opening party was his opening piece was, hello, my dear. What are your three questions? Oh, my God, I teach this stuff. And I teach them not to even look at the person.
21:06
OK, so how did you acquire the skill to be able to look into somebody's future?
21:13
OK, so I was born with the call on my face. It's the sign of the healer. The mystic is written in the Bible. I then at the age of 15 joined the Astrologic Association of Ireland and I studied everything. And I've been teaching everything for 40 years. And I teach meditation, wellness, well-being, palmistry.
21:29
OK, so again, I'm going to ask how...
21:33
Can you know what's going to happen in somebody's future where I haven't a clue?
21:38
I don't know. It's a gift I've been born with. The same as an artist is born with the gift of artistry. Then they train, they become a little bit better. They become a specialist in some area.
21:47
Katie, let me ask you. Hang on, this line I was given that there's somebody coming along in my future and strength.
21:54
That's absolutely rubbish, yeah. They want to give you a I would give a description or an astrological sign or an actual physical description. But again, I always say to people, everything in life, they should tell you what he looks like, depending on the tarot cards. There are like dark people, blonde people, red hair people, dark skin people. It's all in the tarot. But the other thing is, I always say to my clients, this is the the colors and the shapes.
22:25
This is what is possibly there for you. It's up to you to make your own choices. So what I actually do is empower my client to heal their own lives.
22:33
Okay. So again, I was asking you, you know, how did you acquire this gift? Could I acquire the gift? Could I acquire this gift? Could I be able to read into people's future?
22:44
Well, I have people, I'm starting, yeah, I'm doing a tarot workshop in September and And there are people who are going to come and they're going to learn just for themselves to be able to read their own cards, which you can also do. It's another old wives tale. There are people who want to do it for family and friends. And then there's one maybe every year that I meet who's actually got a gift that they didn't know they had. Like everyone is psychic. Everybody has intuition. Everyone has a third eye. Everyone has seven chakras. Everyone has the ability to know stuff. It scares people.
23:15
It scares people. I mean, I have done haunted houses. I have done exorcisms. Horrible, horrible stuff that no one else will do. And all I want is my client to grow happy and feel better. That's it.
23:27
How do you respond then? We sent you the message earlier on asking you to come on because we knew this was your field.
23:35
Sorry, for people ridiculing, Catherine, just stop. You might not agree with what she's doing and you might not think that it's legitimate.
23:43
I'm not asking them to come to me. I'm not here with a placard going, come to me.
23:49
But you will take my 60 quid if I come to you.
23:52
If you need to come to me and you need me and I mean I've had an odd person that really didn't need a reading and I've said to them keep your money absolutely if they don't need a reading and then I say maybe you need healing if there's something like the woman who the guy wrote in about his girlfriend if she is searching for
24:08
somebody and going to all these readers she needs healing or therapy or counselling or whatever suits her this was his point obviously she's had a point in her life that she's somewhat vulnerable and he believes that psychics prey on vulnerable people who are and I'll use his words gullible and naive
24:33
OK, do you know what you can do? I don't prey on anyone because I'm not a lion hunting for people. People find me and I have a Web page and I have a Facebook page. That's it. I would be willing to give that girl a free reading or healing. And I would I would ask her if I got her here to stop doing this to herself, to take up some sports, join a sports club, take up some fitness. Like, I mean, some people don't like hairdressers. So do we bandwagon? I tell you what, Catherine, where are you based? Some people don't like beauticians. So do we ban all beauticians?
24:59
Where are you based, Catherine? Sorry? Where are you based? I'm in Dublin Street, East Wall. Okay, I'll do one with you. For the purpose of the podcast, I'll do one with you at some point over the next two weeks. No problem. You can make an appointment. I'll come back to the podcast.
25:12
Katie, I will argue with you that Catherine may not listen to this podcast all the time, but will be very familiar with you, will be very familiar with you being on this podcast and...
25:25
I mean, there's no anonymity here.
25:27
OK, then send the girl who's looking for help to me anonymously.
25:32
We'll send somebody to Catherine who's affiliated with the podcast, but not that Catherine could know anything about them.
25:39
Just to say, I do 50% of my work is fundraising for Husky Rescue Ireland. I'm a vegan activist. I'm an animal person. I do tons of charity work. I pay my taxes just because people are going, oh, it's a tax fee. Unless you know me personally, you can't comment on me.
25:53
Okay, just finally, Catherine, because I want to take a load of calls coming in on this.
25:59
Talk to me about the healing aspect of what you do. What do you heal and how can you heal somebody?
26:05
Okay, so I'm a call bearer healer and it's the power that you were given to have the power in your hands. So I've studied everything. and I knew from a very early age I had a great affinity with animals and with kind of bold dogs and things like that and then people are very drawn to me like whenever I go out somewhere so around 13 or 14 or 15 very boldly I got my first tarot cards and then I started doing the healing courses and then my mother told me when I was in my 20s that I was a call bearer and when I researched it it says it's you're born with a gift of healing born with a gift of healing a call yeah c-a-u-l oh sorry the ability to make a difference yeah you can make a difference to the world.
26:42
So I have used my ability to help people to make a living from it because I was given the gift, but I also do 50% of my life is spent in charity work. So that's the difference between me and other psychics out there. I don't look for publishing or advertisement. People come to me. I've been on the Senator Norris one hour show. I've been on Joe and Darren podcast. I've been on everything, but they come looking for me. They're world, they come to me anonymously and then the girl or the guy will say, we're actually from the sun or the star.
27:17
Could we do a write-up on you? You're very good. I say, sure. Can I mention the animals?
27:21
OK, do me a favour, Catherine. Stay on the line there for one second. Our number is 085 825 2626. I would love to hear from you on this. Basically, Gavin is the guy who got in contact with us and he believes that psychics are nothing more than scam artists.
27:40
preying on vulnerable people who are gullible and naive.
27:45
Adrian, do you remember January 2025 when I told you a story? Somebody contacted me on Facebook. A woman we both know. She reads energy, basically. She's not a psychic or medium. I think it's all about energy. But she messaged me. I was sitting at work. It was the first day back in the new year in 2025. I was in a different radio station than the one I work in now. And I got a message from her saying, hey, random one for you.
28:11
But something's going to come up in May for you. You're going to be basically headhunted. There's going to be a job that comes up. You're going to hear something soon about a job, blah, blah, blah. In April, I got a text from my current employer saying, hey, how do you fancy having basically a chat? We have a position coming up. I think you'd be a fit. The job was to start. No, sorry. It was in February. The job was to start in April. And she said it'd be before May. Now, don't tell me that's not weird. That was weird.
28:40
So answer me a question then. It was too weird. What happened to that woman? What, she woke up one morning and you were in her mind and she saw this job coming up for you?
28:48
I don't know. We're going to see her next week.
28:50
Will I? Oh yeah, we will.
28:51
We're both going to see her next week. We can ask her. She'll tell you. She literally messaged me one day.
28:56
Get the message. It's on my face.
28:58
I'm not doubting you.
28:59
But I was sitting in work one morning and she sent it to me and she said, something's going to come up for you before May. And the job was to start on the 28th of April. Two days before, three days before May. Too weird.
29:12
Let me go to line two. Sorry, who's on line two there? That's Darren. Darren, you're on Opinions Matter. How are you, Darren?
29:19
For once in my life, I'm actually, I'm actually, I don't know what to say. Meaning what? Why do you not want to know what to say? I'm just baffled at people believing this shit. She's not about there for the last 10 minutes that she went to study all this shit. And she believes that because she studies a new book that she can heal people. And like when she says healed, does she mean like heal someone from like heartbreak, heal someone from physical cuts or what?
29:46
Well, actually, that's a very good question, Catherine. What can you heal?
29:50
The most common thing these days is anxiety because everyone's on their phone all day. So by advice, it's very simple, you know, have a bit of healing, short term, turn your phone off, turn the TV off, stop watching news, stop watching the TV, stick up a sport.
30:03
That'd be fairly standard advice though.
30:06
Yeah, yeah, yeah. But people don't take it because everyone's on their phone.
30:08
You walk in the street... Are you saying that telling me to put my phone down basically is healing me?
30:15
No, no. Part of it is we chat. We chat about what's going on. But the healing is hands-on. You lie on the plinth for an hour. That in itself is healing. People take an hour out of their busy day just to lie in and be de-stressed. No, it's hands-on healing. I work on the chakras. But I mean, Darren, if you don't like healers, stay home. Leave us alone. I'm not angry.
30:37
I'm not angry. What made you think I'm angry? Have you ever heard of the placebo effect?
30:42
I'm shouting. How am I shouting? Maybe the line was bad. You seem to be shouting. Anyway, you don't like this, Darren. Just go on. Go on about your day and leave us alone.
30:53
ask you that question have you ever heard of the placebo effect of course I have yeah yeah so do you not think that has something to do with a lot some people Darren so some people Darren are genuinely lonely in this big bad world we live in and they love to come to somebody to talk to and that's why I run meditation classes for just 15 euro for two hours And if they don't have the money, they're giving a donation for my husky rescue box. Oh my God.
31:19
You charge someone 15 euros to talk to you.
31:25
No, I teach meditation. You must have misheard me. I give them meditation class. I've written them all myself. But if you don't want it, stay home. I help people.
31:34
You think you help. And people that go to you think they're being helped, but they're not. They're only vulnerable.
31:41
You don't know my clients, so you can't comment objectively on that. You don't know my clients, so you cannot say that.
31:47
Well, I can. Because I don't know that people that go psychics are vulnerable. They want to hear what basically they want to hear.
31:55
Sorry, Darren. Just interestingly, half my clients are men. and half my clients are women and they all come with different problems and they all have a little couple of healing sessions and then off they go.
32:04
Well I don't understand, do you heal someone like, do you heal someone like with physical cuts or do you just talk to someone at the hall to heal? Sorry, I couldn't hear the first bit of that. Are you able to heal or cure depression?
32:17
Yes, people come to me with depression.
32:21
huge anxiety pills lithium valium you name it absolutely and then I get them to work with the doctor and reduce very slowly with the doctor's approval oh my god I'm actually baffled it's just an absolute scam maybe you don't know enough about it. Maybe you should research the subject before you come on radio and embarrass yourself. You don't know what I do and you don't know my clients so therefore you can't comment.
32:47
Let me ask you Darren, do you believe it is possible for somebody like Catherine to develop a skill where she has the ability to look to your future, where she has the ability to heal you?
33:02
Absolutely not Adrian. The only skill she has developed is manipulation in my opinion. For her to say that she was charging people 15-year-olds to go and talk to her about their feelings. I mean, that's not a scam. I don't know what is.
33:19
Well, you could argue a councillor does the exact same thing.
33:22
Yeah, a councillor is a qualified person. What's a councillor?
33:28
She thinks she can heal. Catherine said she is qualified.
33:31
She's qualified, yeah, in her opinion. What makes her qualified? She's going to sidekick college. There's no such thing.
33:37
You believe, just like Gavin who sent us the original message, that this is literally exactly like the phone call you received this afternoon asking you to give over your bank details in the end, which is an utter scam. You believe this is the exact same thing?
33:55
No, it's a bit different. It's not a bit different, but like...
33:58
But a scam is a scam. A scam is trying to get money out of people under false pretexts.
34:06
I thought if someone had the real gift of a psychic, they'd go with charge for it.
34:12
That's what I thought now. I don't know where that came from. But, sorry, you believe that this is a scam, that they are getting money out of people on false pretenses.
34:19
There is no such thing as a coincidence. There's a perfectly large explanation for everything.
34:24
Darren, what about the really specific stuff I was told?
34:28
You don't know this man. He could have easily talked to your friend. He could have Google searched him. He could have done anything. There's no way that man could have known. I changed my name. Do you generally think, you generally think that that man was psychic and knew what you were thinking or whatever? No, no, not what I was thinking.
34:45
No, no, no. But there was things he told me that he couldn't have known through anybody else.
34:49
Okay, so how does he know?
34:51
Okay, so the dilemma I was in, there's no way he could know because I've never told anybody about that. So he, there's no way, it was an opportunity that was presented to me and I didn't.
34:59
How did you see this? Did he go to sleep and dream about it? I don't.
35:05
No, what he told me is he talks to spirits, right? Now, I know that sounds like bollocks. No, no, no, I agree with you. It does sound like a complete bollocksology. But I changed my name just to be sure in case.
35:17
You know, I get all that. As you're sitting there and these words are coming out of his gob that make perfect sense to you, where do you think he's getting that information?
35:26
I have no idea. I think it's just the stuff comes into my mind. So he's able to read your mind, is he? How could he have known some of the stuff he said, though? Honestly, no, I'm genuinely asking. Well, you don't know.
35:36
He could have been talking. He could have been talking to your friend or auntie. She could have told him. He could have found out your real name and all of a taken down to Google.
35:44
OK, Darren, do me a favour. Stay on the line there for one second because I'm going to talk to somebody else in a moment who says that they're Psychic Dave.
35:52
Jesus, lads, I'd love to know what's got to be happening in my future. I was just wondering there, like, you know, can she talk to people that have passed or anything like that?
36:03
It's the Opinions Matter podcast with Adrian Kennedy and Jeremy Dixon. A podcast from Ireland with a difference.
36:09
Stacey, you're on Opinions Matter. How are you, Stacey? I'm good. How are you? Good, thanks, Stacey.
36:17
What did you want to say on this? You're psychic yourself, are you?
36:22
I'm a medium, I am. But the thing with a medium is every medium can be psychic, but not all psychic can be mediums.
36:29
Okay, so explain to me exactly what a medium is.
36:33
A medium is what connects up to the spirit world, to whoever has passed away and connects to loved ones to give messages. A psychic is more for the past, present and future.
36:43
Okay. So you are a, what did you say you are again? A psychic medium. Okay. A medium. So if I were sitting in front of you, my mom sadly passed away nearly a year ago. Are you telling me that if I was sitting opposite you, you'd be able to talk to my mom?
37:03
No, it doesn't work like that. Because when someone is going for a reading, I don't have control on who comes through. Someone else might come through to talk to you. Can you get people over the phone? Are there any people in the room with us now?
37:19
No, see, I wouldn't be connecting that way because I don't believe that. Do you know what I mean? Unless there's a really, really strong message there that I have to give, I'd only give it. But other than that, like...
37:31
I wouldn't be doing it as an audience.
37:34
Okay, so if I was in a room with you, Stacey, you would feel the energy in the air or whatever, and you would communicate maybe with my granny, or is that how it works?
37:47
Yeah, but it wouldn't always, yeah, it just depends who's there, like, it's like, the way I always put it is, like, it's like the post, do you know what I mean? Like, you're not going to know what letters are going to be coming, it's just, you don't, you know, like, when you open them, do you get what I mean? And it's, that's the way a medium would work as well, like, when they're delivering a message, like, they're delivering it from whoever they connect with.
38:08
Okay, so I, okay, so I can't walk into you and say, you wouldn't do me a favour, Stacey, put me in touch with my mum, she died a year ago, that's not how it works, no?
38:16
That's not like I can try channel the energy a little bit to see if I can get something. But if there's nothing really there, like I'm not going to sit there to waste my time and spirit time and your time. Like I'll just tell you how straight look I'm not getting it. So there's no point.
38:32
Is everybody in the spirit world? There's a reason I'm asking that everybody who's passed away. Are they in the spirit world?
38:37
Yeah, I believe so.
38:39
Okay, so again, I'm going to use an example of my own mam who died nearly a year ago. My mother wasn't in any way religious.
38:48
We had a secular funeral service for her. It wasn't in a church.
38:52
I was going to say to you this morning how lovely your ceremony was. It was nice, but it wasn't.
38:55
It wasn't a religious ceremony. There was no religion at all because we were respecting my mam's wishes. She wasn't a religious person. And she was subsequently cremated and her ashes are interred in a non-religious wall in Dean's Grange Cemetery. No religion at all. Oh, so you can get like a non-religious... Yeah, but my point is she didn't believe in religion, doesn't believe in the afterlife, didn't believe in anything. She genuinely believed... And it's sad in some ways. Once you're gone, you're gone.
39:25
Once you're gone, you're gone. So that's what my mam's belief was before she died. Now, do you believe that she's still in the spirit world whether she wants it to be or not?
39:34
Yeah, I do believe that, yeah.
39:36
So?
39:36
Because, well, see, when you're on earth, like, you have an ego. When you pass away, like, you're out of all that ego. You know what I mean? Like, you're in your full spirit. Yeah.
39:48
Yeah, I don't really understand that, no. Well, let me ask you another question then. You have the ability to talk to the spirit world. Where did you get this ability? Did you go to college? Did you wake up one day and realize you could talk to dead people? What?
40:04
No, it develops from when you're like younger, you know, like how it happened with me was like I was only a young child I was and I woke up and I thought my mom was looking at me going to sleep outside my door. Sorry.
40:19
No, go on. Yeah.
40:20
And I wanted to call it when I looked out and I thought it was my mom looking at me and it was only the next morning when I woke up and I said to my mom, like, were you looking at me going to sleep last night? She kind of looked at me with 10 heads to say, like, no, why would I be looking at you going to sleep for? And then I said it to her, like, what I was seeing. And then she goes, oh, well, you know, they can't harm you. And I never thought much of it. But it was only when I got older, like, other little things started happening. And I never understood them. And I was kind of brushing it down because I never understood it. And it was only when I got talking to mediums myself as I got older, as an adult, they started to help me then understand what all that was.
40:57
So, when you hang up the phone here, on your own, at home, would you be able to just strike up a conversation with somebody in the spirit world?
41:07
Yeah, like, I would, but, like, you'd have to come, like, that's only from your own personal use.
41:12
You'd be able to sit in a bus or sit in a room and look like you're talking to yourself, but that would be what it would look like. I'm not being smart. Yeah, I would. You can sit there and just... I know. Oh, Jesus. I really want to be a fly on the wall when that happens on a bus.
41:26
Okay, so Stacey, let me ask you then. How do you use your skills? How do you...
41:35
yeah how do you use your skills because I haven't really built it up as a career like the way that woman Catherine has so like I never really charged people you know like any message I have ever given like to people like and they got comfort out of it I never charged them so like I you know I just done that through like a more like a hobby way like you know and just because I believed in what I was doing and okay would you like to make money out of it because it seems like there's money to be made here I did want to build it up at one stage as a career But then I have a passion for other things now So I'm more drawn to them now So it's not that I don't want to be doing it I just don't feel like it's for a career to earn a living from But it's a skill you will always have, is it?
42:23
Yeah, it's a skill that I'll always have And I'll still always use it I have helped a lot of people Okay, Darren, what do you make of that?
42:30
She can basically communicate with the spirit world
42:35
not according to Stacey no no it's not impossible she's able to do it it's the same with all this horoscope stuff I bet you should be leaving on the horoscope for that you know the way I'm a Scorpio right and if you look up with Scorpio traits I am down to them like a key now is it the same for everything a Scorpio in the world no so it doesn't be right about a few people even the broken top is right twice a day I just don't want to believe. Don't get me wrong. I believe in the spirit world, but I definitely believe in the afterlife.
43:07
But I don't believe that you can talk to people. I just don't. It's just impossible.
43:11
But okay, do you believe there's any crossover? So you believe in the afterlife. You believe something happens to you after you die, do you? 100%, yeah. Okay, you don't know what necessarily that is, but you believe something happens. So... I believe we still exist after, yeah. Okay. Okay, and that's fine, if that's your belief. Is there no crossover, though, between the afterlife and the present life?
43:35
Well, we won't know until the die ages as well as moment.
43:37
No, no, no. Well, Stacey's just told you. Actually, there is a crossover. They can talk to each other.
43:44
According to Stacey, yeah, but that's not fact.
43:47
So you've heard what Stacey... Sorry, I have to go here. I have to go. Oh, go on, go on, go on. You've heard what Stacey... Sorry, sorry. He's heard what Stacey had to say, and he still doesn't believe what she had to say. That's really the thing.
43:57
I was going to ask him there, but he's gone. I was going to say, was you not out of curiosity going to see one just to see what happens? Just for the crack. Why not? It's 50 quid, 60 quid. It's not going to break your bank. An hour. Take an hour. Just to experience it.
44:10
I get it to an extent, okay?
44:14
I don't believe in magicians. I don't believe magicians are magical.
44:18
Magicians aren't really magical.
44:19
However, I had a guy in a radio studio about 20 years ago, maybe 25 years ago, and he was a magician. And at the time we had two P coins. We had old Irish puns. And do you remember the two P coin? It was a big, huge copper looking yoke. Yeah. Yeah. And what he told me to do was put the coin in my hand, turn my hand over. So my hand is like that as a fist. And he said, tell that coin to bend. Tell that coin to bend. And I'm doing all this shite and trying to tell the coin to bend.
44:52
Now, you couldn't bend a 2P coin with your hands if you tried. It's just absolutely impossible. But when I opened my hand, the 2P coin was folded over in half. Now...
45:03
I still don't believe in magicians, but that freaked me out. And this is the point that I'm trying to make. Maybe when you went to see the psychic, a couple of things landed with you.
45:12
Does that mean there's no strong man who does weight? That's in your future? Yeah.
45:17
That's in your future? I don't know. Trevor, you're on Opinions Matter. How are you, Trevor? Hey, guys.
45:24
Trevor, do you believe in any of this?
45:26
I'm getting something here. Hang on. I'm tapping into David O'Connor here. Hang on. Oh, Jesus. He's going to be about three feet tall. Sorry, look, you won't get it. It's the wrong man. Sorry. Adrian, your taxes are 10 euro short. Oh, my God, Adrian.
45:47
Tell Amanda she needs to delete more comments. Jesus Christ, they're getting out of control. Adrian, I was having a fucking laugh at this show. Sorry, I had to kick David Carrier on my head there. Oh, that was a headache.
45:58
what just happened you're asking me are we being serious with this show we actually are and I'll tell you why firstly Gavin contacted us basically because his girlfriend has been to one on several occasions charging between 50 and 70 euros a pop and he believes it's absolute bullshit that they're scam artists that these are people who are taking money off individuals with bad intent in other words they're scam Yeah, I do, actually.
46:31
Let me ask you a question, Adrian. Why aren't these psychics and fucking evangelists or whatever the hell you want to call them going out into the world saying, oh my God, there's going to be a terrorist attack here. We need to put up preventive measures. They're not doing that. They're going, come to me, which I think is 15 euros for 20 minutes and I'll help you.
46:51
they're fucking weirdos. Right? They're taking money, they're basically pickpockets that give you information to distract you.
46:59
That's all.
47:00
Wow, that's amazing. And your one catcher, and I'm going to say one thing, your one catcher on this show said before, she can advise people to stop taking medication, eat the proper foods, meditate and then you're going to be fine within two weeks. I've heard her say that on this show. Now, I would love to know what her medical qualifications are, where she got certified to give out this sort of information. And I'd love to know all that information if you can get that because I have a feeling she's a charlatan.
47:31
Trevor, you have to ask. Are you on the sauce? Am I what? Are you on the sauce at the moment?
47:36
Are you on the sauce? What the hell does that mean? Oh, drinking? Yeah. No, I probably drink three times a year. You know what I mean? No. I'm having great fun with this because you're getting the absolute weirdos coming out of the woodwork. Like, it's safe. I have no idea what you're talking about. I think she sits in too many rooms and has a fucking conversation.
47:52
He's basically saying this is all a load of bollocks, basically. Just to paraphrase what he's been saying. Now, Trevor, Katie has already admitted that she went to a psychic a couple of months ago, and this person was able to tell her stuff that he could not have known otherwise.
48:09
It was odd.
48:10
Yeah, but you have to remember, right, these are the sorts of people that can read you and everything and all that, and then, Katie, I hate to say this to you, and you know, me and you, we rarely get on, but you're semi-well-known in the radio world at the minute, so is there a possibility to use the Google? Huh? Is it possible he could have Googled you? No, because... Don't say I give a fake name, Katie, because you're on the internet, so we know what you're looking at.
48:36
Okay, okay. But, to be fair, I did use a different name. I did use a different name. So how is it possible? That's where... This is the thing, Trev.
48:44
Katie, have you and I ever met face-to-face? No.
48:47
Right. If I saw you walking down the road, do you know how I'd recognize you? How?
48:52
through Facebook because you're all over it with Adrian and the other bloke I can't remember his name the main name on the show that's kind of awkward oh Jeremy yeah that's the one you know like if Adrian you or Jeremy walked in I'd go oh shit I know their names Google Google Google it's not that much of a far reach now if you are someone absolutely unknown and and they got a lot of stuff right about you, I would probably go, oh, Jesus, that's good guesswork. I would still call it guesswork.
49:23
I wouldn't say, oh, my God, they're touching into the spirit world.
49:26
Okay, is that what it is, Trevor? It is literally guesswork, and some of it lands and some of it doesn't. And this was why I was asking Katie, was there anything that he said that you would consider was absolute rubbish? It made no sense to you whatsoever. And you can't recall anything. because as I said...
49:44
When you think about Asian, right, these are the sorts of people that can read your body language, okay? So if you're sitting across to someone and they go, oh my God, have you lost someone while they're shaking, they're covering their forehead, peeping through two fingers and they see you move and shift, they're going to go, oh yeah, I see the person you've lost. All this is about reading it. And again, I'm going to go back to the first note you had on the show. She said on this show before, she can cure people of like autism, depression, anxiety and all that while advising not to take medication. That's a fucking looper.
50:15
I have to say, she did say she asked the individual to consult with their doctor as well, to do it in conjunction with their doctor.
50:25
People meshing in saying that he knew this stuff was known about me because I'm in the media, yeah? And all these meshing people saying, oh, you're in the media, that's why they know.
50:34
Just to say, there was things that I have never spoken about on this podcast that was known. So there's one, if he did know me, how would he have been able to get that specific? Things I've never said on this podcast because we don't... Things you've never said to anybody?
50:51
Never said to me? Yeah.
50:53
Again, I'd chalk it up to guesswork, to be honest. Let me ask you a question. Let me just put one thing to you. Let me put one thing to you for you.
51:04
right and you died and you came back and all of a sudden you had absolute proof right how do you think the world would handle that if there is that and beyond we will never know because of the fact that as a species we're fucking so stupid and we want to kill each other anyway Like to know that's the size of the world. Yeah, we wouldn't need to handle that. So I don't believe there is anybody that has ever gone over and come back and gone, oh my God, it's not a bright light. Wow. You know what I mean? I've had dozens of tears. You know when you're dying, you see the light at the end of the tunnel.
51:35
This is your personal favorite. You're dying, you see the light at the end of the tunnel. That's actually your body, your soul being resurrected to go out the next world, out of the next vaginal canal being born. And I was like, I'm sorry. Yeah, that is nuts. That is nuts.
51:49
Yeah, okay. But, like, these are the sorts of lupus that are out there.
51:53
Okay, so again, we've spoken to Catherine, we spoke to Stacey, who's able to communicate with people in the spirit world.
52:02
You, in your heart and soul... And they're not out there stopping crying in my mortars or anything like that.
52:07
In your heart and soul, you believe this is absolute rubbish because if it wasn't absolute rubbish, they'd have been able to prevent... September 11th, for example.
52:16
Let me just say one more thing to you. Why aren't they fucking minted living in mansions? That's all I'll ask you.
52:21
It's a fair point. It is a fair point.
52:24
Okay, stay there for a second.
52:25
I never agree with you, but today I get your point.
52:27
Okay, Keith has been on to us.
52:29
Yeah, look, some of them are better than others. Some of them can tell you shit that, you know, nobody, as you think, could know. But then again, there's a syndicate, isn't it? Like where do you put people out to find out things about you? Say it, just social media, whatever. Yeah. We went to see a spiritualist one night and this fella came up from Kilkenny and he just paid into the place at a random table.
52:53
And a man came over and told all the people at the table that they needed to make up with this man that, you know, they were isolating him. None of them had a clue who the fucking chap was. At that minute, I grew up and walked out and asked for a fucking refund. I said, the spirit's in there already, but it's in me fucking glass. Not walking around that we can't fucking see.
53:12
Opinions matter.
53:15
A daily podcast from Ireland about opinions.
53:18
Chloe, you're on Opinions Matter. How are you, Chloe?
53:21
Very, very annoyed that Catherine C is a scam artist.
53:24
Why do you say that?
53:25
I don't just say that. I can say that factually because the definition of a scam artist is a person who uses perception, manipulation and lies to cheat people out of their money, property or valuable information. He's on here saying what she's done is biblical. The Bible completely condemns all of this. He's asking people to pray for her while turning people away from God's teaching. So that a lie. First of all, she contradicts herself. Second of all, sakras, which she keeps talking about for somebody who's not religious, are used in Hinduism and Buddhism. So she's again praying on people with spiritualistic purposes.
53:56
She is a deceiver.
53:58
Okay, so you said yourself a moment ago the church frowns on all of this sort of stuff. Why, for example, why would the Catholic Church traditionally, maybe not so much nowadays, traditionally have been involved in things like exorcisms? If
54:13
So, do you believe that all psychics, or if somebody like Stacey was on a while ago...
54:38
Alison Dubois, there was a TV show made about her called Medium. Patricia Arquette actually played her in the TV show. She works with the FBI.
54:47
And what's the point you're making here?
54:48
She claims to be a psychic medium. She claims to be a psychic medium.
54:54
Hang on, that's exactly what Stacey there a while ago said she was, a psychic medium. That's exactly the word she used.
55:01
That's exactly what Alison Dubois calls herself. Your own Catherine is a scammer.
55:05
Hang on, Chloe. My thing that I said that it was very specific, you think that was all a scam as well?
55:11
Well, I come from Traveller Heritage and believe some people have got gifts that we don't see, but they don't charge people for them. If they do that, they're not doing it for what they were giving it for.
55:20
Okay, but I was charged for it and I paid for it.
55:23
I think that's wrong. I think if you're given a power that other people don't have and you use it for good, you should not be allowed to.
55:30
What about the point that Trevor made? Whether you charge for your gift or not, if you have the ability to see into the future, yeah? Do you believe some people have the ability to see into the future? No.
55:42
If Jesus Christ can't see into the future, how can anyone else?
55:45
Okay, so no, you don't believe it.
55:47
No, I don't believe it. I believe we can talk to spirits because there's a thing called purgatory and we don't know what comes after it.
55:53
Does purgatory not get rid of? Does the Catholic Church not scrap that?
55:56
No.
55:57
Yeah, yeah.
55:57
There's no rapture. Rapture is not true, but purgatory is true. You should pray for the souls in purgatory, Adrian, as a Catholic. No, if I'm not mistaken, the Catholic Church got rid of purgatory. Well, you want to go and tell my priest he's wrong.
56:09
But anyway, okay, so, but you believe that it is possible to communicate with spirits in purgatory.
56:16
If people can claim to be possessed by demons, why can't the dead still be walking?
56:21
Why can't souls inhabit here if they're not in heaven or hell?
56:26
You see, I'm trying to understand where you...
56:32
I believe the dead could probably be heard if they're in pulpitry is what I'm saying. I don't believe anyone from heaven is coming back because God defeats the purpose of heaven.
56:43
So let me ask you then, somebody who, and we're really going down rabbit holes here, but somebody who didn't believe when they were alive, where do they go after they die? Heaven, hell, or purgatory?
57:03
No, were they good people? They could be very well in heaven, Adrian. You don't have to believe in Jesus Christ to get into heaven. That's not what Catholic Church teaches.
57:11
Oh, anyone can get in, can they?
57:12
Anyone who lives a good conscious life can get in. When you know about the Holy Spirit and you blaspheme, it's the one actual cardinal thing. You can never come back from it. You're separating yourself from God.
57:22
Okay, so let me go back to the point. As regards to seeing the future, no, nobody can see the future, in your opinion. But as regards talking to the dead, it is possible.
57:34
Talking to the dead, the practice of opulentness. Yes, it has happened. Sure, people use Ouija boards every day. There's only good spirits that come back, though, in my opinion. You can also get very bad spirits coming back, which really is a bad one, so it has to be good ones.
57:47
Okay, so you do believe in that aspect of things. It is possible to communicate with the spirit world.
57:54
Yes, I believe that is spiritual. Stacey was on a while ago. She doesn't charge, but she can talk to the spiritual.
58:03
No, I know that. I know that.
58:07
It's getting completely off point. The basic question is, do you believe in them and do you not?
58:12
We're not really getting off point, because if you are religious, you may be more inclined to believe that it is possible to communicate with people.
58:18
I don't think it's a religious thing, it's a spiritual thing. There's a difference between being religious and being spiritual.
58:22
Glenn, you're on Opinions Matter. How are you, Glenn? How's it going, guys? How are you? Good, thanks, Glenn. What did you want to say?
58:28
I haven't listened to shows where I've been busy, but I honestly feel like this whole psychic thing is such a money-making scam. I think it's fraying on vulnerable people that have people that have lost recently and they want answers. And I think it's very, very sick that people benefit off this because if you're encouraging this behaviour, then you're encouraging the delusion that people can do this.
58:47
Okay, but I would argue with you that somebody like Katie went and paid... Somebody like me. Somebody like you went and paid to see a psychic, yeah?
58:56
Yeah. No, I only did it because I was going with a friend who was like... I know, you still did it. That's the only reason.
59:01
You didn't have to go in.
59:02
No, but I've never done it before and I was like, fuck it, I'll try it. Would you do it again? No, I've done it now.
59:06
But it was so brilliant. I didn't say it was brilliant.
59:08
I said there was stuff on it.
59:10
Okay, but somebody like Katie went of her own free will and choice. So how is she being scammed?
59:17
Because then when she goes there, people go, oh, that's brilliant. And then people who are more vulnerable than Katie, Katie knows a lot of it's probably BS, but a lot of people who are a lot more vulnerable will be sitting there going, oh, I want to do this all the time.
59:28
Believe it or not, before Katie went to see this particular psychic, she would have said it's all BS. And we actually had this conversation a couple of years ago, and you did say exactly that. This is bullshit, okay? But my question is what, Glenn, in terms of...
59:46
Sorry, Katie now believes a little bit more than she did before the day.
59:50
Listen, there's cowboys and everything, but I'm a bit less sceptical in a way, but I don't think they all can see into the future. I think the line at the end about strength and strong, I think that was bullshit. I think it's something they throw in at the end because they probably think that everybody's looking for it. I couldn't give a fuck personally about my future.
60:08
But how does this guy know about this dilemma that you were having in your life?
60:12
That's the odd thing. I don't know. And there's no way because only one person in the world knows about this.
60:16
And that person wasn't there that day?
60:18
No.
60:20
I mean, Glenn, I mean, some of it is inexplicable, is it not?
60:25
But I feel like it's lots of a guesswork. Like, we don't know these people's backgrounds. They have a degree in psychology and body language and watching. I think I personally feel a lot with guesswork. And because we try and focus and not give away anything away, we subtly get away little things like a little twitch, a little this and that, and then they build on that.
60:42
When he started to read with me, okay, when we started talking, he said to me, he was like, he stopped me and he said, Where's the French in your blood? That's what he said to me. He said, where's the French in your blood? How could someone know that?
60:57
My name wasn't given, by the way. I actually gave an Irish name. I said Roisin.
61:02
How is that possible? Like, it's just odd, isn't it? It's weird. He was like, you have French blood.
61:07
Like I said, I haven't listened to the show a lot of time, but it is weird that he would turn around and say French, but again, we don't know if he knows you, because again, your face is very popular. Do you know that kind of way? Like, somebody could pay attention to, oh, she does the radio or she's known. So like, I feel like a lot of these things are guesswork. Like, I could turn around and say, oh, I live somewhere else out of Ireland. And if it's not Australia, they could think English teachers, Spain or France. You know what I mean? I think...
61:34
tear anyone down I just think a lot of it's guesswork and again we give away subtle battle okay Gavin who's the guy who contacted us in the first place he went a step further and he said they are scam artists preying on vulnerable people who are gullible and naive there is a lot of that let's not lie there is a lot of that there are vulnerable people who go to them regularly like if you're going as a once off for a laugh why not but if you are going regularly then you know I would consider that to be somebody who's quite vulnerable someone who's obviously seeking reassurance
62:04
And I think that is what they're doing.
62:05
Why is everybody so mad to know what's going to happen? Shut the hell up and get on with it. We all want to know what's going to happen in our future. What's going to happen is going to happen. Do you know what I mean? And there's nothing you can do to stop it. There is nothing. What's coming for you is coming for you. And there's nothing in this world you can do to stop it.
62:18
Would you ever go to a psychic, Glenn?
62:21
No, no. Can I just ask you a question? Have you ever heard the theory of the butterfly effect or a little theory that the smallest of things in the wind can change your prediction of today and things without the weak? That's what I feel like these things are. What's the butterfly effect?
62:33
It's like, say you went, it's like they say it's like a tornado, a butterfly in the middle of a tornado, it can change the direction of a tornado. So let's say you were going to work one day, blah, blah, blah. You said, no, I'm going to wait five minutes later and you bumped into an old friend. For me, I always say, why didn't you leave my job? I want to meet my current girlfriend. So it's like a series of events that can build on.
62:52
You think every action leads to something that's supposed to happen? No. No, I actually agree with you. I do actually agree with you. I believe 100%. I believe in faith. Do you not believe in faith?
63:01
In faith? Yeah. Faith, yeah.
63:03
Whatever.
63:04
Yeah, I do believe in faith.
63:05
Do you believe it? Do you believe that whatever is meant to be, that there's a line, like me getting the job in LMFM, that was supposed to happen. Do you not think that everything... I really believe this. I believe that everything that's... When you were born, I believe...
63:19
Your life is mapped out for you.
63:21
I think so. Yeah, I think so. Can you not change direction? I don't think... I think ultimately what's going to be is going to be.
63:26
So say, for example, you got offered that job last year. You could have said, well, actually, no, I'm very happy where I am. Thanks very much. But faith put me in the job. Faith is the word.
63:34
I don't care what it is. You correct me once more and you're getting a run in order tomorrow. So...
63:38
So you believe that faith made you take that job? I...
63:41
I believe that I'm not I'm not into this airy fairy hippy dippy shit. OK, I'm not into that at all. But I do believe I don't believe in coincidences. I just don't believe in coincidences. I think things happen for a reason.
63:53
I know. I kind of agree with that. Things happen for a reason.
63:57
But that had you turned down that job when you were offered it, then, you know, are you saying, oh, that's what fate had designed for me?
64:06
Do you understand the point I'm making? You're still in control of your life. You can walk out this door and you can turn left and go down the stairwell or you can turn right and go down the corridor. I'm going down to the bar. Are you telling me that that's mapped out for you already? No, it's not.
64:20
No, I don't mean like that. I'm not talking about which way you're going to turn walking down a street. I think the big things, I think, are meant to happen. I do.
64:28
Let me bring in Jess just to wrap this up with her opinion.
64:33
Yeah, she uses the energy in the air. Oh, we'll just stop and then capture her with her passive erasiveness. Well, if you don't want my services, don't take them. Well, just fuck off. He's a scam artist. He's our own scam artist.
64:48
There's no other word to call you. And of course Catherine's going to be there saying, don't go to anyone else, go to me. Of course she would say that. Which is, oh stop it. If you're stupid to actually hand 60, 50, 70 quid of your hard-earned money to these scam artists, you're just as dumb. You're just as dumb and you believe anything.
65:07
All right. And one final message from Winnie.
65:13
Hi, Adrian. I just was looking in there at the show about the fortune telling some of them being true and some of them not so true. However, I had an aunt in the past and she knew a woman. So she used to go and have a conversation in the woman's house. But obviously the woman had a daughter and the daughter didn't like her. And she used to be an eye on the mother over having her in the house and talking to her. So my aunt turned around and she said to her, be quiet, she says, and don't be getting an eye on your mother, she said, because when you grow up, obviously you'll do very well and you'll become a health nurse and things will go very good for you.
65:48
So obviously a few years after she grew up. True to my aunt's words, she read the cup of tea leaves in the tea. So this is what it told her. And yeah, everything she said to the girl that came true. Yeah, so obviously she's a nurse today, a health nurse today. Very well off her son and a good job.
66:08
All right, Winnie, thank you very much indeed for your message.
66:12
For, you know, things. Do you remember how I started working with you guys? I was a listener to the phone show, right?
66:18
Back in the day, yeah.
66:19
And I remember one night, I was 17, 18, and I sent a text into Adrian and Jeremy's show. And I said, I'm a massive fan of the show. I would love to come in and sit in, see how it all works. I was obsessed with radio. I was absolutely obsessed with radio. It just made me tick, right? So I said, can I come in? I got a call back from Jeremy that day.
66:38
Saying yeah, no problem.
66:39
Come on in. Yeah, you're more than welcome. You can come in and sit in with us. So I went in and sat in on the show.
66:45
Within a few months, I had a job offer from him.
66:49
Now, if I had not have sent that text, I'll never forget. I was having, actually, and this is where fate really comes in. I was having the worst day. I was driving my car and I was screaming. I was so angry.
66:58
So that was already mapped out for you.
67:00
And Jeremy texted me saying, there's a job coming up. Do you fancy it? And the rest was history. There you go. That is fate. If I had not sent that text.
67:07
Good luck, good luck. Thanks for listening.
